Private jet prices, no surprises.
Real rates, route by route.
What a private flight truly costs — by aircraft category, by distance, and the three levers that cut the bill.
Formula: great-circle distance × 1.05 → time at manufacturer cruise + 0.3 h taxi → × published hourly rate (Paramount Business Jets, ECB conversion).
Indicative estimate — the firm price depends on aircraft positioning, fees, dates and availability. Exact price on request.
Get the exact price →A private jet costs from €2,381 per hour (light jet) to €12,120 per hour (ultra-long-range), all-in excluding landing fees, per the hourly rates published by Paramount Business Jets (08/2026), converted at the ECB rate. Example: Paris–Nice is estimated from €3,000 one-way (light jet, ~1h 12). The firm price depends on aircraft, date and repositioning; it arrives within 60 minutes.
How much does a private jet cost per hour?
A private flight is priced hourly, and that rate depends first on aircraft category. The larger, faster and longer-legged the aircraft, the more an hour of flight costs. Here are the real ranges seen on the European market, with a sample route for each category.
| Category | Hourly rate (published range) | Sample route (estimate) |
|---|---|---|
| Turboprop | €1,750 – €2,000/h | — |
| Light jet | €2,400 – €3,050/h | Paris–Nice · est. €3,000 – €3,500 |
| Midsize jet | €3,450 – €4,100/h | Paris–London · est. €2,500 – €3,000 |
| Super-midsize | €4,400 – €5,650/h | Geneva–Marrakech · est. €12,000 – €15,500 |
| Heavy jet | €6,250 – €12,100/h | Paris–Marrakech · est. €17,000 – €33,000 |
| Long-range | €8,650 – €12,100/h | Paris–New York · est. €59,000 – €82,500 |
These figures are all-inclusive: fuel, crew, airport fees and taxes are built in. A bare hourly rate, sometimes advertised elsewhere, tells you nothing about the true cost of a flight — it is the price of the complete mission that matters.
Why two identical flights are not the same price
Two trips on the same route can show very different prices, and it is not arbitrary. Four variables explain the gap. First, the empty distance: if the nearest aircraft is based far from your departure, its repositioning is billed. Next, ground time: a same-day return keeps the aircraft and crew on site, which costs less than an aircraft tied up for three days at the destination.
Season matters too: during the Courchevel ski season, the Cannes Film Festival or the Monaco Grand Prix, demand surges and rates climb. Finally, booking lead time: a flight arranged the night before leaves less room to negotiate than one planned two weeks ahead.
Three levers to pay less
Flying privately remains a luxury, but three levers genuinely lower the bill. The first is right-sizing: choosing the aircraft that fits the distance and passenger count, rather than an oversized jet that burns fuel needlessly. A Paris–Nice does not need a long-range jet.
The second is date flexibility, which opens access to repositioning flights and off-peak slots. The third, and most powerful, is empty legs: those empty segments an operator wants to fill and offers sixty to seventy-five percent cheaper. If your calendar allows, it is the most economical way to fly.
Private jet prices on ten routes, by aircraft category
A private jet flight price reads route by route: distance sets the flight time, the category sets the hourly rate, and repositioning the aircraft adds a variable share. The table gives the one-way estimate, crew and fuel included, excluding landing fees, for the city pairs our clients ask for most. Each line has its own page in our routes.
| Route (one-way) | Light jet | Midsize jet | Super-midsize jet | Heavy jet |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paris – Nice | €3,000 – €3,500 | €4,000 – €5,000 | €5,000 – €6,500 | €7,000 – €13,500 |
| Paris – Geneva | €2,000 – €2,500 | €3,000 – €3,500 | €3,500 – €4,500 | €5,000 – €9,500 |
| Paris – London | €2,000 – €2,500 | €2,500 – €3,000 | €3,500 – €4,000 | €4,500 – €9,000 |
| Paris – Chambéry (Courchevel) | €2,000 – €2,500 | €3,000 – €3,500 | €3,500 – €4,500 | €5,000 – €10,000 |
| Nice – London | €4,000 – €5,500 | €5,500 – €6,500 | €7,000 – €9,000 | €9,500 – €18,500 |
| Paris – Ibiza | €4,500 – €5,500 | €6,000 – €7,000 | €7,000 – €9,000 | €10,000 – €19,500 |
| Paris – Marrakech | €7,500 – €9,500 | €10,000 – €12,000 | €12,500 – €16,000 | €17,000 – €33,000 |
| Paris – Dubai | €17,500 – €22,500 | €23,500 – €28,000 | €29,000 – €37,000 | €39,500 – €77,000 |
| Paris – New York | €19,500 – €24,500 | €26,000 – €31,000 | €32,000 – €41,000 | €43,500 – €85,000 |
| Nice – Saint-Tropez (day trip) | €1,000 – €1,000 | €1,500 – €1,500 | €1,500 – €2,000 | €2,500 – €4,500 |
A same-day return — Nice–Saint-Tropez, Paris–Geneva — avoids a double repositioning and often costs less than two one-ways; a light jet for a Riviera day trip is the cheapest way to fly private. Empty legs cut the bill further when dates line up.
What a private aircraft costs: charter, jet card or ownership?
“How much does a private plane cost” has three answers depending on use. On-demand charter bills only the hours flown, at the hourly rate of the chosen category — the right formula below roughly fifty hours a year. A jet card locks an hourly rate and guarantees availability for twenty-five to a hundred prepaid hours, with no capital tied up. Buying only makes sense beyond two to three hundred annual hours: on top of the aircraft price come crew, maintenance, hangarage, insurance and management, partly offset by managed charter.
Our guides cover each case: chartering a private jet, the jet card, buying a private jet and fractional ownership.
