Charter, understand, choose.

Chartering a private jet means booking an entire aircraft for a specific trip, at the time that suits you, without sharing the cabin. Unlike ownership or a jet card, charter ties up no capital: you pay for the flight and nothing else. It is the most flexible way into private aviation, and by far the most common.

The idea is simple. You give a departure point, a destination, a date and a passenger count; the platform finds available aircraft from certified operators and returns an all-in quote — fuel, crew, airport fees and taxes included. Nothing is added at take-off. The flight leaves from the nearest business airport, often minutes from the city centre, and you board roughly fifteen minutes before departure.

That flexibility carries a high hourly cost, but it buys what scheduled airlines do not sell: time. No check-in, no connection, no waiting — the aircraft waits for you, not the other way around.

The price of a private flight depends on four things: aircraft category, distance, ground time and season. Pricing is hourly, from around €1,750 per hour for a turboprop up to €12,150 and more for a transatlantic long-range jet (published broker ranges). A Paris–Nice on a light jet is estimated at €3,000–3,500; a Paris–Marrakech on a heavy jet at €17,000–33,000 (estimates from our engine; firm price on request).

Three levers lower the bill. First, right-sizing: an oversized aircraft for the distance wastes fuel and hours. Second, date flexibility, which opens access to repositioning flights. Third, empty legs — those empty segments an operator wants to fill — which can cut the price three- or four-fold when the calendar allows.

Aircraft choice follows distance and passenger count, not prestige. For a short hop like Paris–Geneva or Nice–Saint-Tropez, a turboprop or light jet is more than enough and costs the least. For a European crossing with a small party, the midsize or super-midsize jet offers the best cabin-to-range balance.

As soon as you aim transatlantic — Paris–New York, Geneva–Dubai — you need a heavy or long-range jet able to fly 11 hours non-stop, with a stand-up cabin and a real berth. Beyond sixteen passengers, the VIP airliner, a converted commercial aircraft, takes over.

A private aircraft is chosen by family as much as by category. For Western Europe with two to six passengers, Cessna Citations and Embraer Phenoms give the best price; for eight to ten passengers to North Africa or the Middle East, Bombardier Challengers and Dassault Falcons — the only ones that land on the short runways of Cannes, Chambéry or La Môle. Beyond 6,000 km, Gulfstream and Bombardier Global; beyond sixteen passengers, Boeing BBJ and Airbus ACJ.
